Parisa Manouchehri Design is a multidisciplinary design studio established by Parisa Manouchehri Kashani based in Tehran and Kashan.
Parisa Manouchehri Design is a multidisciplinary design studio established by Parisa Manouchehri Kashani (born 1968, Tehran, Iran) and has had a number of incarnations in different cities across the globe while Parisa’s continuous travels have enriched her understanding and appreciation for various design fields and sensibilities across the continents.
The Studio was founded in 2002 in Toronto, Canada, and worked on a number of local commissions before Parisa was invited to join the prestigious office of Johnson Chou Inc. in the same city. This experience further honed her skills for poetic imagination, critical thinking and architectural detailing. In 2005 she re-launched the Toronto office with a focus on product design and in 2007 established her Tehran office which has since been active in the fields of architecture, interior, landscape and product designs with projects in the Middle East, Europe and North America. In 2012 a major restoration and renovation project in Kashan drew her interest to the historic city and ignited a new passion that has become the focus of the studio’s work today. The Kashan office of the studio is now part of the umbrella of the Manouchehri Foundation, a Heritage NGO Parisa has established to act as a network hub that uses design to help protect, preserve and promote historic places while giving them contemporary relevance.
A strong relationship to culture and context underlies Parisa’s architectural work while meaningful narratives coupled with inventive solutions inform her product design approach. Combining handcrafted traditions with contemporary techniques in making, exquisite workmanship and attention to detail have always been the hallmarks of her executed works.
Parisa has an honors degree from Ryerson University’s School of Interior Design in Toronto, Ontario (2002), and a double-major degree in Philosophy and Political Science from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts (1991).
